My son turned a year old last month, needless to say EVERYTHING goes in his mouth.

I love to try new things with him, but I have to be careful about potential poisoning or choking hazards, which is why I’m such a fan of Crayola washable markers. I particularly like the Crayola Supertips washable markers for Noah. There are tons of washable markers out there, but Crayola Supertip washable markers are a good size for his little hand and the variety of colors is amazing. I have always wondered what kinds of interests my kids would have, and I can say that at only 13 months old, I’m a firm believer that we’ve got another artist in the family.

This proud mom would have to give the Crayola Supertips washable markers a 9 out of 10 on the mommy must have scale, and a 7 out of 10 on the artist must have scale.

Crayola Supertips Washable Markers-Must Have
I have developed my own scale for measuring the "Must haveability" of some of the main products I use. Being that I cover a variety of of products and categories, there are a few scales.
1. Artist Must Haves
2. Baby Must Haves 3. Mommy Must Haves 4. Toddler Must Haves |
Although I'm sure they're fine for babies, I hadn't really used these with my son until he was about a year old so I'm going to refrain from the "Baby Must Haves" list for this post. Also, the "toddler must haves" and the "mommy must haves," will be combined.

9 out of 10 on the Mommy Must Haves List
As I said before, my son is only about a year old and puts everything in his mouth. I have to be extra careful when we try new things to make sure he doesn’t choke on anything, and that he’s not in danger of being poisoned somehow. Although I have always trusted the Crayola brand to be safe and non-toxic, crayons didn’t really work out for us at first. Noah and I tried coloring with crayons, but when he took a bite of one and it crumbled into his mouth, I decided to switch to Crayola Supertips washable markers. They showed up better on the paper - and on his face.
They don't crumble like crayons, but he did manage to bite the tip off of one of the markers when I looked away for 1/2 a second. I don't know what I'm going to do about him putting stuff in his mouth, but that's a whole other post. He loves to draw on himself, I think it’s a combination of liking the way it feels and liking the way it looks. Mommy and Daddy have tattoos, and we appreciate body art in our home. He likes to play with the markers as much as he likes to color with them. The Crayola Supertips are my favorite markers to use with him. There are a great selection of colors , and they really do just wash right off of everything. We tend to get as much ink on ourselves as we do on the paper, and it's nice to be able to just relax and enjoy creating together without worrying about ruining something. |
Noah is obsessed with vehicles at the moment. He loves cars, trucks, trains and bicycles. We even had a "choo choo" birthday party theme for him last month. I hoping to use this picture to help him learn the names of the vehicles, and maybe even some letters.
I really like the idea of educational art. Hopefully in our future, we'll be using these Crayola Supertip washable markers for lots of learning fun! |
7 out of 10 on the artist must have scale
I love using the Crayola Supertips Washable Markers with my toddler, but for my art, I still prefer Sharpie Markers.
Supertips have an amazing selection of colors, but they seem to leave a lot of streaks in your picture. "Nerdle The Turtle" is a character in a potential childrens book I'm working on. Although this picture of him is just a draft, I'm really disappointed with the streaky lines. |
