A few weekends before Halloween, we went to a Trunk or Treat at a local church. We had a lot of fun, but I'm pretty sure Noah's favorite parts were running around in the grass, and hamming it up for everyone who told him how adorable (and scary) he was. He ROARED at everyone who said the word "Lion." Kinley rolled around in her stroller, and, between the two of them, they made a lot of people smile that day. I'm glad we had the opportunity to do something like that because our Trick or Treating experience was short lived on Halloween night. Apparently we missed the memo that trick or treating is more of a mid-day thing now? What time do you start/finish trick or treating, and where do you live? Click the title of this post "Halloween 2015" above, or "Read More" Below to see more of our Halloween fun. The pumpkin patch was a blast this year. Although last year Noah liked crawling around with the pumpkins, this year, he LOVED running around like a little madman. He was people watching, and checking out the decorations, and was clearly not in the mood for a "pumpkin patch photo shoot." I've always heard other parents talk about taking pictures with multiple kids, and thought it was funny to hear them say things like "for every good picture of the kids together, there are 5 bad ones." Although I wouldn't call the picture of him throwing his baby sister to go run through rows of pumpkins "bad," I'm starting to understand the gist of what they meant. We had about a 2 minute window for possible picture taking until he was back up and running. It was definitely a day to remember for all of us.
"Oh, you missed your nap? Oh you're in a terrible mood and haven't been listening to me at all today? Well, lets try painting then, that sounds like a GREAT idea."
I saw a "wet stained glass" pin on pinterest and decided to try it with Noah. We had a lot of fun, but I think he's still a little too young for it. He'll be a year old next month, and I think we'll try this one again when he's a little older. We were able to make this a 3 part project. First we ripped up the paper while going over our colors, then we did the stained glass, then we glued the pieces to the picture of our tree when they dried and fell off of the window. “So…it’s not just a disgusting, pee soaked, towel full of poop?” One day, my grandmother mentioned cloth diapers & apparently my pregnancy hormones took the sugar coating right off of my response. For a long time, the thought of cloth diapers repulsed me. I explained to her that I figured the life of a cloth diapering mom looked a little something like this: take a washcloth, wrap it around your baby, secure with HUGE “safety” pins, then you’ll either need to tie a grocery bag around the kid, or plastic wrap the furniture because there will be pee and poop on everything. (Not only gross…but not very “green”). She laughed and explained what cloth diapers were, even 50 years ago, and convinced me to at least look into them. Although all of the current cloth diapering options available did spark some interest, I was overwhelmed by all the choices and put off making a decision. Thankfully, by the time the baby was born, family & friends had already supplied us with a stash of Huggies and Pampers, so once again, the cloth diapers got put on the back burner. As mothers, my aunt and cousin knew that they could either make a decision and get the ball rolling for me, (which was exactly what I needed) or listen to me as I’m kicking myself in a few months because “I wish I were using cloth diapers.” One day, a package came in the mail…POCKET DIAPERS & BAMBOO INSERTS! |
Kandice SwearingainI am the proud Mommy of 2 under 2, a wife, and an artist. My son has loved coloring, painting and drawing since he could hold/eat a marker. My daughter LOVES watching from her bouncy seat and will be getting messy with us in the very near future. I’m blessed to have the opportunity to be a stay at home mom, and be able to play with, create with and teach the littles. Categories
