In all honesty, I think I may have had more fun with this one than Noah did. Although he LOVED ripping construction paper, the concept of creating the "stained glass" just wasn't happening.
He is only 15 months old, and he did enjoy it, but I think I'll try it again with him when he's a little older. We took our time while ripping up and cutting the paper. We actually made it an entire event of it. We sat at his little table together and he picked out which paper we were going to do next, and I went over his colors with him. Noah puts EVERYTHING in his mouth right now, and he kept eating the paper, which I guess isn't that big of a deal, but I figured, "why not take this to a whole new level?" We brought down a few of his foam letters from the bathtub and stuck them to the window as well. They are these awesome soft letters that stick to pretty much everything when they're wet, and he chews on them all the time. It was the perfect opportunity to go over colors and letters. |
"Stained Glass" has never been so cute
Stained Glass: You Will Need
Instructions
For this project, you rip up construction paper, dip it in a bowl of water, and stick it to the window.
Fun. Easy. And when the paper dries, it just falls off of the window and can be re-used for future stained glass, or other projects. This faux stained glass actually turns out to be beautiful. Things You Should Know
Be sure to put a towel at the bottom of the window, and under the water bowl. There is a chance that the water that runs down the window could have some of the ink from the paper in it. Unless you want a tie dye look on your window trim, I'd do a test piece first, or just put a towel down.
Noah was as interested in the bowl of water in the living room as he was in the actual activity. Despite my cat-like skills and reflexes, he eventually spilled it everywhere, but that's part of the "fun." Obviously, you don't need much water, I used a small flat Tupperware container, so cleanup wasn't a big deal. |
